Virtually Everywhere

Remote working and augmented reality tools are staples in the globalization industry. Exploring how the world has quickly embraced virtual collaboration.

Virtually Everywhere

TL;DR

Remote work and virtual collaboration tools have been staples in globalization for decades-long before the pandemic made them mainstream. Success in global teams doesn't require in-person meetings; it requires clear communication, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build relationships across distances. Good globalization means being locally relevant at global scale, and great leaders must master this whether working from headquarters or a camper in the woods. The key isn't having the right technology, but understanding how to use it effectively across cultures and time zones to build genuine connections.

Remote working and augmented reality tools are staples in the globalization industry, it's amazing to see how my kids, friends and neighbors have moved so quickly to embrace them.

I've never met some of my clients in person, after 5 years at PayPal I hadn't met all of my staff in person. An in-person meeting just isn't always possible when your goals and workforce are global in scale.

Good globalization means being locally relevant at global scale, and great leaders and organizations need to do the same to succeed globally. Even if you are riding out a pandemic from a camper in the woods.

The shift to virtual collaboration has accelerated dramatically, but for those of us in global communications, this has been our reality for decades. The tools may be newer, but the principles remain the same: clear communication, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build relationships across distances.

As we navigate this new normal, the lessons learned from decades of global remote work become more valuable than ever. The key is not just having the right technology, but understanding how to use it effectively across cultures and time zones.
